For those who want to hide the spam count

here's an easy way:
1. create a filter
2. in the field "has the words" add "in:spam" (without the quotes)
3. click next step
4. click ok in the warning pop-up
5. check the box "mark as read"
6. click "set up filter"
voila! the annoying unread
spam count eliminated for all eternity!
p.s. you should still check your spam folder regularly. don't blame me
if you miss an email from the wife/boss....
